Release Notes 25.4 IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast, and IDL Xlslink
General Notes
About This Release
This documentation describes the changes in IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast and IDL Xlslink compared to Release 25.3. The minimum requirement for installing this version is the installation of Release 25.1.
The previously released fixpacks are included.
With this release, maintenance for the 25.3 release ends.
Data Backup
Before installation, please make a backup of your database(s) and check it to protect against data loss.
Migration
After installation, the release migration for IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must always be performed first. After logging in, start the release migration via <Start migration now> in the message window. A restart is not necessary, all applications are available afterwards.
You can find the protocol of the migration under the short word KONVERT (right-click on the corresponding migration).
If the migration is not started in this manner, e.g., because the logged-in user lacks authorization, the call of other applications is blocked. The only exceptions are the applications for maintaining the authorization data if the logged-in user does not have authorization to execute the migration due to the use of individual authorization groups. After manual execution of the migration, IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must be restarted.
Documentation
In the subdirectory Doku\Release you will find the following documentations:
- Technical Installation Instructions
- Operational Installation Instructions
- Release Notes
For the currently valid "Hard and Software Requirements", please refer to the Customer Portal https://help.insightsoftware.com/s/article/IDL-Hard-and-Software-Requirements (prior login required).
Security
TLS 1.3 is used as the communication protocol between the client and the application server. Perfect Forward Secrecy makes it even much more difficult to decrypt the connection at a later date.
Data transfer between client and server has been secured by an additional whitelist for permitted classes.
Directory browsing for the ‘webstart’ directory has been disabled.
Technical Information
To enable “Web Client (Streaming)” please start configure.exe on your Application Server and go to the Common Configuration Section. After services have been restarted you could access IDL Konsis with your Browser at your individual URL followed by https://myIDLKonsisAppServer/webswing-server/konsis/
The Desktop Client and the Launcher deliver the used JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in the installation directory, so that no separate installation is necessary.
Java 21 has been used since release 25.4.
The business runtime environment included in this release is limited until 01.03.2028 and must be renewed from this date at the latest.
External libraries
Numerous external libraries have been updated.
Web Client
When exporting to Excel from web client, node lines are now exported as well. Reports are exported to Excel with grouping, analogous to the desktop client.
A field for selecting the file type has been added to the import dialog in the web client, analogous to the desktop client.
Cryptic Java error messages in the import process have been replaced with user-friendly messages. When the CSV file content is invalid, descriptive error messages now appear instead of Java exceptions.
Konsis Datamart
The OLAP View OLAP_DW_TIME has been extended to provide periods up to the year 2030 and beyond. This enables 5-year budget cycles with full period visibility.
Licensing of the ESG component
Since release 24.3, the functions of the ESG topic area can only be used with a valid license file that contains the ESG feature.
Discontinuation of support for Oracle databases
Support for Oracle as a database system will end on December 31, 2025. Already published releases of IDL Konsis support Oracle Database until their respective end of support (longest IDL Konsis 25.1 until June 2026).
IDL Konsis
Menu Authorization
The following menu items have been disabled with this release, as they have already been replaced by other applications in this release or previous releases. The menu items will be deleted in a subsequent release. Until then, please remove all individual uses (authorizations, menu structures) of these menu items:
- None
DEF Applications
All DEF applications now also use the language set in the table in the wizard.
Company Definition (CODT)
Changes to business activities (wizard page 5) is now displayed as separate modification information.
Chart of Account Definition (COADFN)
A selection area has been added to the COADFN application. The selection area includes fields from the old KTO selection area such as account, assigned chart of accounts + account, balance sheet/P&L indicator, account indicator and KVA, as well as transaction development of the account.
Accounts are now filtered based on the fields entered in the selection area before being displayed. This reduces loading times for very large charts of accounts with tens of thousands of accounts.
A checkbox has been added to the selection area to enable or disable the aggregation view. The group account/aggregation account view is only displayed when the checkbox is enabled. This improves performance when opening very large charts of accounts.
Controlling Definition (CNTDFN)
When changing the assigned controlling plan, a note is now displayed indicating that an adjustment to the controlling objects must be made. Additionally, an open task appears in the dependent table of controlling objects.
Metrics Unit Definition (MTRUNT)
The symbol field for units is now a mandatory field, as it represents the sign for the unit in the KTOSAL application.
Report Definition (REPDFN)
When dragging and dropping or indenting report lines, the line type and value flag are automatically adjusted. The report line automatically changes from P1 to P6 if the parent position has no position type entered.
Report Column Definition (REPCLDFN)
The behavior when changing the object type for report columns has been made more consistent. When changing the object type from 'Currency' to another type, an error is now displayed in the task table in all cases if report columns have a currency type (LW/KW/PW).
The plausibility checks in the wizard and table edit mode have been aligned.
Import
When importing accounts, the account group attribute "Group account" is now correctly considered.
Company financial statements
The carry forward of narrative information to the next period has been extended to include fixed asset transactions. Comments on fixed asset transactions are now correctly transferred to the following period.
Automatic Posting Generation
Vouchers are no longer created without postings. If no transaction exists or the posting rule is empty, no voucher is created in BEL. Additionally, when deactivating the M/Q/J switch, not only the posting but also the voucher is deleted.
French translations in the voucher and posting rules have been corrected.
Automatic Consolidation Posting Generation
Error messages during generation have been made more detailed. When multiple posting rules run into one voucher and have different voucher texts, the system now explicitly indicates the deviating voucher text. Additionally, a note appears stating that the voucher contains postings from multiple posting rules.
A checkbox "Don't show this message again" has been implemented in the message dialog to enable message suppression.
Vouchers are no longer created without postings. If no transaction exists, no voucher is created in KONBEL.
Check Rules
The difference calculation in check rule results has been improved. For operators [L] = [R] (absolute value) and L=-R, the difference is now calculated correctly, taking into account that debit entries are always positive and credit entries negative.
Reporting
A switch has been integrated into the report header to deactivate the completeness check of development transactions when creating the report result.
The new switch for deactivating the completeness check of development transactions is evaluated during report result creation.
Performance
Performance optimizations for KOPKONBUCH and related migrated services have been implemented.
Checks to ensure the consistency of transaction development master data are no longer performed redundantly.
IDL Forecast
ESG
When writing balances for balance sheet/P&L "M" and "N" accounts, the balances and comments are now written correctly. For N accounts, a 0 balance is written if a comment is attached to the cell.
For balance sheet/P&L indicator "N" accounts, balances can no longer be entered, as this is not technically correct.
The selection option for accounts with balance sheet/P&L indicators "M" and "N" has been added to balance writing.
The selection option for accounts with balance sheet/P&L indicators "M" and "N" has been added to balance updating.
Accounts with balance sheet/P&L indicators "M" and "N" are no longer added to the reconciliation block, as they are not financial balances.
When updating balances, accounts with balance sheet/P&L indicators "M" and "N" are now correctly considered.
Import and export of M and N accounts have been implemented in the Forecast monitor. Options for M and N accounts have been added to the Forecast "remote control".
IDL Xlslink
Accelerated access to database for read functions
When reading account balances, access to the data in the database has been optimized and, according to our own measurements, is now 10% to 30% faster. Since overall performance depends on many factors, this can vary depending on the user context.
