Release Notes 25.2 IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast, and IDL Xlslink

What's New Video for IDL Konsis 25.2

General Notes

About This Release

This documentation describes the changes in IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast and IDL Xlslink compared to Release 25.1. The minimum requirement for installing this version is the installation of Release 25.1.

The previously released fixpacks are included.

With this release, maintenance ends for release 24.1.

Data Backup

Before installation, please backup your database(s) and check it to protect against data loss.

Migration

After installation, the release migration for IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must always be performed first. After logging in, start the release migration via <Start migration now> in the message window. A restart is not necessary, all applications are available afterwards.

You can find the protocol of the migration under the short word KONVERT (right-click on the corresponding migration).

If the migration is not started in this manner, e.g., because the logged-in user lacks authorization, the call of other applications is blocked. The only exceptions are the applications for maintaining the authorization data if the logged-in user does not have authorization to execute the migration due to the use of individual authorization groups. After manual execution of the migration, IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must be restarted.

Documentation

In the subdirectory Doku\Release you will find the following documentations:

  • Technical Installation Instructions
  • Operational Installation Instructions
  • Release Notes

For the currently valid "Hard and Software Requirements", please refer to the Customer Portal https://help.insightsoftware.com/s/article/IDL-Hard-and-Software-Requirements (login required).

Security

TLS 1.3 is used as the communication protocol between the client and the application server. Perfect Forward Secrecy makes it even much more difficult to decrypt the connection later.

Release 25.1 already included an update of internally used cryptographic algorithms.

Technical Information

To enable "Web Client (Streaming)" please start configure.exe on your Application Server and go to the Common Configuration Section. After services have been restarted you could access IDL Konsis with your Browser at your individual URL followed by https://myIDLKonsisAppServer/webswing-server/konsis/.

The Desktop Client and the Launcher deliver the used JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in the installation directory, so that no separate installation is necessary.

Java 17 has been used since release 22.1.

The business runtime environment included in this release is limited until the 1st of March 2028 and must be renewed from this date at the latest.

Multilingualism

Improvements have been made to the French and English translations.

External Libraries

Numerous external libraries were updated.

Online Documentation

When calling up the documentation via the F1 key or the navigation menu, the central insightsoftware help system is now called up in the browser.

Web Client

In the configuration program of the Application Server, it is now possible to hide the 'Web Client' button.

Licensing of the ESG Component

Since release 24.3, the functions of the ESG topic area can only be used with a valid license file that contains the ESG feature.

Discontinuation of Support for Oracle Databases

Support for Oracle as a database system will end on December 31, 2025.

IDL Konsis and IDL Xlslink

Menu Authorization

The following menu items have been disabled with this release, as they have already been replaced by other applications in this release or previous releases. The menu items will be deleted in a subsequent release. Until then, please remove all individual uses (authorizations, menu structures) of these menu items:

  • None

Master Data - DEF Applications

If the function Table cells editable is activated, field contents can be edited more quickly and easily directly in the table without having to go through the wizard first. However, empty columns were previously always hidden if this option was activated in the user settings. As a result, it may not have been possible to edit all fields via table cells if they were hidden. The editable table cells option now also reactivates all empty columns so that all fields can be fully edited.

This change basically affects all Java applications, especially all DEF applications. The term DEF applications refers to the following integrated applications:

  • Chart of accounts definition (COADFN)
  • Chart of positions definition (POSDFN)
  • Check rule definition (CHKRDFN)
  • Group definition (GRPDFN)
  • Report definition (REPDFN)
  • Transaction development definition (TRNDEVDFN)
  • Report column definition (REPCLDFN)
  • Define vouchers and postings (VCHPSTR)
  • Define consolidation vouchers and postings (KONBUCHDEF)

Java master data applications use a wizard to create or edit a data record (e.g. the applications Companies (GES), Country codes (LKZ), Currency codes (WKZ) and Data types (FAC)).

Check Rule Definition (CHKRDFN)

In the check rule definition (CHKRDFN), it is now also possible to bulk change in the main table.

Chart of Accounts Definition (COADFN)

Working with the bulk change function has been improved, as multiple messages are now suppressed when making bulk changes. When copying or saving chart of accounts definitions, you will now see a progress bar that provides information on the status of the saving process.

Chart of Positions Definition (POSDFN)

The chart of positions definition application has been given an additional selection field on the position/account assignment tab. You can now select one or more positions and then display the assigned accounts. This is not possible via the filter line, as the filter line does not display the tree structure.

Open Business Data Fabric (also known as Platform Data Sharing, PDS)

A "Valid from" field has been added to the import application. This significantly simplifies the import of master data, as upstream systems are often unable to provide this information, but it is mandatory in IDL Konsis. In addition, the desired "valid from" specification can be selected flexibly and transparently and no longer has to be stored rigidly in the respective import format definition.

The following business views have been newly created:

  • ESG metrics
  • ESG units
  • Assignment of ESG units to companies
  • Assignment of ESG entities to facts
  • Company processing control records
  • Groups
  • Assignment of companies to groups including consolidation information
  • Parent/child relationships between group/group and group/company
  • Shareholding/participations (between companies)
  • Exchange rates

The following business views have been expanded to include the details of the respective unit (for local, group and parallel units). For ESG accounts, the local unit is read from the associated company, while the group and parallel units are each read from the associated fact. For all balance sheet and P/L accounts (balance sheet and P/L indicator = 1 to 4 or 6 to 9), the local, group and parallel currency is read from the associated processing control record.

  • Account balances
  • Controlling balances
  • IC balances
  • Development transactions
  • Fixed asset transactions
  • Postings

The following business views have been expanded to include SSP/SBE:

  • Development transactions
  • Fixed asset transactions
  • Postings
  • Consolidation postings

ESG

In the chart of accounts definition, the Accounting standard field has been expanded to include additional characteristics. You can now mark the accounts that are mandatory or optional for ESG reporting accordingly to make it easier to maintain an overview. Of course, you can also filter according to this.

A new icon for narrative information is used in the form entries for account balances and development transactions.

The print preview of the form entry for account balances now also displays narrative information.

For a report to be created, you can choose between local value, group value and parallel value for ESG data.

When narrative information is entered for the first time, the corresponding symbol for the narrative information now appears automatically without you having to update the display manually.

External links could previously be added to the narrative information. This refers in particular to file references in your local network. It is now also possible to save Internet addresses (URLs) as external links. Please note the additional button in the file dialog.

During the period carryforward, a reference (link) to the original narrative information is inserted for narrative information in development transactions. The same applies to narrative information in account balances and development transactions when transferring to a new data type.

As only certain periods and facts are usually transferred from one group to another when exchanging data with KONDAT, there are certain restrictions regarding the references between narrative information.

Narrative information for account balances and development transactions can now be read out with IDL Xlslink. There are also corresponding export functions for transferring narrative information from Excel to IDL Konsis.

Group Structure (Diagram)

The Shareholdings display option is now shown by default. In general, the display has been improved, for example, the group currency has been removed from the individual boxes and is now only displayed once in the selection part of the application.

Report Result Display

An additional switch has been added to the Print tab in the Options dialog, which can be used to suppress the display of the grid in the report result display. This also affects the printout and export as a PDF file.

Lineos

If you run IDL Konsis on the insightsoftware platform, Lineos has been integrated since release 25.1. The display has been revised and significantly improved.
