Release Notes 25.1 IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast, and IDL Xlslink

What's New Video for IDL Konsis 25.1

General Notes

About This Release

This documentation describes the changes in IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast and IDL Xlslink compared to Release 24.4. The minimum requirement for installing this version is the installation of Release 24.1.

The previously released fixpacks are included.

With this release, maintenance ends for release 24.4.

Data Backup

Before installation, please backup your database(s) and check it to protect against data loss.

Migration

After installation, the release migration for IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must always be performed first. After logging in, start the release migration via <Start migration now> in the message window. A restart is not necessary, all applications are available afterwards.

You can find the protocol of the migration under the short word KONVERT (right-click on the corresponding migration).

If the migration is not started in this manner, e.g., because the logged-in user lacks authorization, the call of other applications is blocked. The only exceptions are the applications for maintaining the authorization data if the logged-in user does not have authorization to execute the migration due to the use of individual authorization groups. After manual execution of the migration, IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must be restarted.

Documentation

In the subdirectory Doku\Release you will find the following documentations:

  • Technical Installation Instructions
  • Operational Installation Instructions
  • Release Notes

For the currently valid "Hard and Software Requirements", please refer to the Customer Portal https://help.insightsoftware.com/s/article/IDL-Hard-and-Software-Requirements (login required).

Security

TLS 1.3 is used as the communication protocol between the client and the application server. Perfect Forward Secrecy makes it even much more difficult to decrypt the connection later.

An update of internally used cryptographic algorithms was carried out with release 25.1.

Technical Information

To enable "Web Client (Streaming)" please start configure.exe on your Application Server and go to the Common Configuration Section. After services have been restarted you could access IDL Konsis with your Browser at your individual URL followed by https://myIDLKonsisAppServer/webswing-server/konsis/.

The Desktop Client and the Launcher deliver the used JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in the installation directory, so that no separate installation is necessary.

Java 17 has been used since release 22.1.

The business runtime environment included in this release is limited until the 1st of March 2028 and must be renewed from this date at the latest.

Application server

Since release 23.4, part of the application code is executed in a different runtime environment. No additional processes are started anymore, instead the application code is always executed within the application server.

If not already done during the installation of Release 24.1, please adjust the memory usage of the application server in the configuration program so that it has about 50 percent more memory available. This memory was previously used outside the application server and should therefore already be available on the infrastructure used.

Multilingualism

Improvements have been made to the French and English translations.

External libraries

Numerous external libraries have been updated.

Licensing of the ESG Component

Since release 24.3, the functions of the ESG topic area can only be used with a valid license file that contains the ESG feature.

Discontinuation of Support for Oracle Databases

Support for Oracle as a database system will end on December 31, 2025.

IDL Konsis

Menu Authorization

The following menu items have been disabled with this release, as they have already been replaced by other applications in this release or previous releases. The menu items will be deleted in a subsequent release. Until then, please remove all individual uses (authorizations, menu structures) of these menu items:

  • KTOGRP – Account categories
  • KTOGRPE – Account category

Artificial Intelligence

If you are using IDL Konsis on the insightsoftware platform, Lineos, our AI-based suite for the office of the CFO, is now integrated into IDL Konsis. The name Lineos comes from "line of sight", which captures what this technology is all about – making complex data simple, clear, and easy to act on. It’s about giving finance teams the tools they need to see what’s ahead, make quick decisions, and achieve their goals. You can ask Lineos questions and Lineos will answer them, e. g. "How to do a consolidation of debts".

Master Data

Account Definition

Opening a chart of accounts and displaying the associated accounts could be accelerated by optimizing the program.

The mass-update function in the account overview has been extended and is now also available for account attributes that could not previously be edited with mass-update, for example intercompany attributes. Furthermore, performance could be improved when working with the mass-update function.

The Account categories application is now integrated into the Chart of account definition application. It allows you to define ranges of account numbers for which the same attributes are to be added during import or manual creation because the corresponding source system does not supply these attributes. The range of functions has also been extended. The assignment to an existing group account can now also be specified in the account category. This is particularly practical as it means that newly added company accounts are automatically assigned to the previously specified group account during import. This saves you valuable time in your consolidation process. An account category that has been already defined for one chart of accounts may be copied to a different chart of accounts using drag-and-drop. This replaces the former mass-copy function in the old application.

Furthermore, there is now an export function for account categories in Xlslink.

Position Definition

The mass-update performance could be significantly improved.

Check rule definition

If the Show data immediately display option is switched off, you will not be shown any data at first in a newly started application, as it is assumed that you would first like to describe the amount of data to be displayed in more detail via the selection area, as it would take an unnecessarily long time to display all the data.

With Release 25.1, the check rule definition application has been provided with a selection area, with which you can again describe the data to be displayed in the same way as in the (no longer available) PRF application.

In addition, the validity ranges "valid from" and "valid to" of the assigned accounts or positions are now displayed in the check rules/positions overview.

If check rule results still exist for a check rule when it is deleted, you will now receive a more comprehensible message.

Group Definition

When working with big groups with many companies and/or subgroups, you will notice a significantly improved performance.

Import Application

Within the import application, the menu item import account categories is re-ordered. Its new location is more logical. You will find it in the section Accounts & Positions, after the menu item of import accounts.

Check Rule Results

The check rules results show per check rule the calculated figures per relevant currency (local, group, and parallel value) for "left side" and "right side". In addition, we now show a difference column per currency ("left side" minus "right side"), no matter what the check rule operator is. In practice, this makes it easier to recognize when one and the same incorrect entry occurs in several check rules. In addition, the amount by which an entry needs to be corrected is easier to recognize and the error can therefore be corrected more quickly. From the check rules results analysis you can dig down into the respective base application. As an alternative, you can dig down into the respective entry form, if you prefer working with the entry forms.

Open Business Data Fabric (also known as Platform Data Sharing, PDS)

If the import format description relates to a field that does not exist in the respective business view, you will get a clear and comprehensible message.

IDL Konsis now can consume not only account balances, but also controlling balances from Bizview.

IDL Xlslink

General information

In addition to the new features described below, this release contains several bug fixes and performance improvements, especially for the formula editor in IDL Xlslink.

The user experience could be improved when working with more than one high-definition display and the scaling in Windows therefore is not set to 100% for all displays.

Formula Editor

We have standardized the user interface for all master data read functions and, among other things, aligned the short and long identifiers, adapted the field definitions and unified the grouping of related fields in the applications in the layout to simplify the use and recognition of fields.

New Read Functions

Two read functions were added. You can now read products/product groups and position plans from IDL Konsis. The read functions also support quantity queries (mode = M).

New Export Functions

Two export functions were added. You can now define account categories in Excel and transfer them to IDL Konsis using IDL Xlslink (see also section 2.3.1).

You can also export narrative information for individual transactions to IDL Konsis.

Consideration of the Value Indicator of Report Line Descriptions

The value indicator in the report line definition is now correctly taken into account for all balance options when determining the values.
